Conor McCarthy

Originally from Limerick, Conor graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education (BMusEd) in 2015 from both Trinity College Dublin and the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. He also holds Diplomas in Piano Performance with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (DipABRSM) and the London College of Music (ALCM).

He is an experienced performer both as a soloist and an accompanist performing in many venues across the country. As an accompanist he is worked with choirs, instrumentalists, singers and most recently for musical theatre productions. Conor has a special interest in Vocal accompaniment, particularly in musical theatre. Having been repetiteur for Gorey Musical Society’s production of ‘Oliver’ in Wexford in 2016, the following year he was Musical Director for their production of ‘The King and I’ in April 2017.  Amongst other musical prospects, Conor is now preparing for Gorey’s 2018 production of ‘The Wizard of Oz.’

Leaving the Classical route aside, Conor is also member of Irish pop/rock group Men Of Twenty. Men Of Twenty have toured throughout Ireland and have played alongside many great Artists such as Royseven, Hermitage Green, Heathers and the Sawdoctors. They have been featured in Hot Press’s ‘One’s to Watch’ as well as their ‘Top 50 Irish bands you have to hear’ list. You can find their music both on ITunes and Spotify.

As a teacher Conor likes to touch on a variety of different styles and genres with such a versatile instrument such as the piano. Where as the Exam Syllabus is taken with great importance throughout the year, it is not the single primary focus. Where he can, Conor includes a good grounding of Harmony, Aural, Reading, and other keyboard skills needed to become a well-rounded musician.
